As is often the case, especially with a formal religious ceremony, there may be a time gap of as much as a few hours from when your ceremony ends and your cocktail hour and reception begin.  The best advice for any bride is to keep your guests engaged during this time, don’t leave them to fend for themselves!  It’s easy to forget that your guests, especially the ones from out of town, will need to find something to do to fill the time, even if you are busy taking all of your formal photos.  Don’t leave your guests all dressed up with nowhere to go!  It’s simple enough to add a list of close attractions to your invitation or website.  Think of sights within a short distance of your venue, local pubs, or scenic drives.  The most important thing is to make sure your guests know when they should arrive at the cocktail hour, you don’t want them showing up hours early, before bar and food service begins.  It’s best to let them know in advance what to expect so no one is left wondering.
